History:
The island was originally owned by the Twigg brothers, later purchased by Mrs Oldfield. The island was previously known as Mason's Island and Bell's Island. Eburne Island was joined to Twigg Island by infill in 1922. Twigg Island was joined by infill to Mitchell Island in 1926.
