- Fonds consists of a small amount of records accumulated by Archie Kelly during his involvement with the Recreation Advisory Council, Richmond youth soccer organizations, the Richmond Summer Games Society, and the Canadian Foresters Games. Records are arranged in five series: 1. Recreation Advisory Council minutes; 2. Richmond Ramparts Soccer Club records; 3. Canadian Foresters Games records; 4. Richmond Summer Games Society Sports Committee records; 5. Photographs.
- History / Biographical:
- Archie Kelly was a Richmond resident devoted to sports and recreation. He served on several committees and councils related to the promotion of sport and activity, including the Recreation Advisory Council, and the Richmond Summer Games Society, for which he was the Facilities Chairman on the Sports Committee. He also volunteered as a coach for several Richmond soccer teams, and filled various positions within the Richmond Juvenile Soccer League, including that of Area Director between 1970 and 1975. Archie Kelly died at 75 years of age in March of 2000. An article in the Richmond Review commemorating his service to the community noted his dedication to coaching juvenile soccer, and his important contributions to the Richmond Special Olympics. After his death, the Richmond Sports Awards committee dedicated the Athlete With A Disability Award in his honour.
