Scope:
Series consists of case files relating to the acquisition of land under the Municipalities Enabling and Validating Act. The case files contain transcripts of hearings before the Dyking Commissioner; certificates of encumbrances issued by the Land Registry Office; affidavits and statutory declarations relating to the proper execution of appropriation procedures; certified land survey plans conducted for the purpose of evidence at hearings; excerpts from Council minutes; indentures conveying right-of-ways to land owners; and general correspondence relating to the appropriation of land by the municipality of Richmond for the purpose of preparing and maintaining the dyking and drainage system
