The fonds consists of minutes of annual and regular meetings; correspondence; reports; by-laws and constitutions; newsletters; notices; various tournament records and souvenirs; game schedules; newspaper clippings and other ephemeral material; resource material about soccer in general and the history of the association; directories and annual reports of other soccer associations; and information on coaching education. The fonds documents the growth of boys' soccer in Richmond
History / Biographical:
The Richmond Recreation League for boys was formed in 1955 by adult players of the Legion 5 Senior Soccer Club. In 1957, the name of the league was changed to the Richmond Juvenile Soccer League. In 1960, the Richmond Juvenile Soccer League became affiliated with the British Columbia Juvenile Soccer Association. The first Soccer Day, an annual tournament serving as the finale of league play for the season, was held in 1962. Originally beginning with just twelve teams, by 1971 114 teams existed. Between 1977 and 1980, the name of the league was again changed to the Richmond Youth Soccer Association
Custodial History:
The fonds was donated to the archives by Mr. Archie Kelly, who served in various positions, including Area Director and Clinic Coordinator, within the Richmond Juvenile Soccer League from the mid 1960's to the mid 1970's
